The Journey Together
This week, as we celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month at Andrews Academy, we had a meaningful opportunity to recognize the cultures, traditions, stories, and contributions represented within our school community.
Looking back, I am reminded of the biblical truth behind our theme, “Together We Are More.” Romans 12:5 tells us, “So in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.”
Our celebration was about more than music, language, or heritage. It reminded us that God intentionally created a beautifully diverse human family. Our differences can enrich our community when we take time to listen, learn, appreciate, and celebrate one another. I am grateful for everyone who helped make this week special and for our students’ participation.
May we carry its message beyond Hispanic Heritage Month: when Christ unites us, our differences become strengths, our community becomes richer, and together we are more.
Be blessed this Fall Break weekend.
With gratitude,

Leadership Retreat
Thank you Lake Union for hosting a Leadership retreat that expanded the spiritual focus for Academy Students. They had a guest speaker, Mark Tamaleaa, who addressed students throughout the weekend on trauma, forgiveness, calling, relationships and mental health. The Lake Union has written a beautiful article that you won't want to miss.
The Andrews Academy leadership team will be looking for ways to implement what they learned among their peers in the near future.
The leadership retreat emphasized prayer & the need for a new generation of prayer partners. Let's continue to pray for our families, pray for our school, pray for our church. "The power of God is available to us right here, right now, and all we need to do is develop a relationship with God."

Senior Day at AU
While the rest of the school was taking the PSAT, the seniors spent the day at Andrews University enjoying interactive programs, activities, worship, and a delicious breakfast. Afterward, they were divided into five teams and sent on a university-wide scavenger hunt, earning points as they raced to complete challenges and finish in first place.
Mr. Atkins was stationed at the gym, capturing plenty of photos of that part of the scavenger hunt. At each destination, teams participated in activities and completed challenges. The event concluded with pizza and awards recognizing participation, speed, and thoroughness in completing the tasks. Oct. 8, 2026.

FACULTY Professional Development
The afternoon following PSAT testing on October 8, faculty participated in an in-service session to renew our CPR certifications, which needs to be renewed every two years.
We spent the afternoon learning, practicing, and reviewing important lifesaving techniques.
God has created our bodies with an amazing design and we spent time learning the BEST way to implement CPR and use the AED devices we have in the school.
Hopefully, we’ll never need to use these skills, but it’s reassuring to be prepared just in case!
We will host a CPR class in the near future for Parents & Students who would like to get certified too!

Hispanic Heritage Week
This week’s chapels celebrated Hispanic Heritage Week as part of Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15–October 15). This year’s theme, “Together We Are More.” Most days of the week had Hispanic Heritage Trivia questions. On the last day of the week Mrs. Silvestre invited all Hispanic students to the front to lead everyone in a song .
Each day of the week students enjoy singing some favorite Hispanic songs as we begin our worship together. This was followed by students leading in worship.
Itzel Fajardo, AA freshman class president, spoke on “Together We Are More,” emphasizing the value of combining our knowledge and experiences. Sophomore Elianna Silvestre reflected on the people and circumstances that shape who we become. Junior Sebastian Silie, in his talk “I’ve Run Out of Things to Say,” challenged everyone to move beyond talking about making a difference and take action.
Pastor Bourget presented the last worship of the week asking, “What do we do with all the nations and peoples of the world? Are we all called to be unified?” Turning to Revelation 7, he shared John’s vision of a “great multitude that no one could count,” representing people from every nation, tribe, people, and language. God’s vision is for a multitude to be saved, each retaining the unique cultural differences that enrich His family. If heaven celebrates such diversity, we should celebrate our differences here on earth. Our unity comes through our shared salvation, love for Jesus, and knowledge that God loves each of us.
We were blessed by the time, effort, and commitment of our Hispanic students, who worked diligently to share a week filled with culture, music, and meaningful reflections. Their contributions helped us learn more about the Hispanic community while reminding us of the beauty of our diversity and the importance of worshiping together. Together, we truly are more!
