Latin American Culture Class
Every weekend in Guatemala, there are processions and alfombras (carpets) made during the month preceding Easter. There are local families, churches, art schools, and other organizations who create their alfombras. The alfombras cover the streets, some are made of grass, flowers, sawdust, sand, vegetables, and/or fruit. The students created their own alfombras, making their own design and using colored sand to decorate them.
The students also learned how to make a Tres Leches cake, a traditional Latin American cake.

Chapels this Week
This week's chapels featured Mr. Meszaros ("May"), husband of Mrs. Nancy "May" (one of our contract Bible teachers), who gave a two-part sermon on the story of Joseph and how his story, the Old & New Testament, and our testaments are all about Jesus. On Wednesday, Mr. May led students out in a musical chapel, where students were able to praise God and learn new songs as well!
To finish the week, freshman Caiden Ward gave a chapel talk about a previous encounter he had when he picked a fight he couldn't win. He encouraged his fellow students to allow God to win battles for them, just like the heroes in the Bible.
We appreciate these messages that gave us reminders to focus on God and submit ourselves to His strength, which is so much greater than our own. We would also like to thank the song leaders who led out in praise this week.

AA Uniforms Available from Lands' End
We have renewed our relationship with Lands’ End for uniform needs. More selections for uniforms are now included, such as a button-down shirt, a long-sleeved polo, and a sweater. Click on the option(s) that you would like, then choose the size (kid or adult). Please be mindful that Andrews Academy is not responsible for your orders.
We are working on other jacket options.
|
|
Please review the Sourcebook (pgs 79-81) for more information regarding uniforms. Only approved logoed uniform wear is allowed. A solid-color, long sleeved undershirt may be worn under the AA short-sleeved polo (no writing should be visible on the undershirt). If a student is wearing an AA logoed jacket, they should also have an AA logoed shirt underneath.
|
If you need PE uniform items, please see Pastor Ferguson at lunch time or after school (cash only).

Please make sure that we have the phone number that you would like to have contacted. We also send an email, put the announcement on our Facebook and Instagram pages, and alert local TV stations (WSBT, WNDU, ABC57).
To receive a text notification instead of a call (text works best), please text “ALERT” to 22300. Please make sure that you have given us the number that you would like to be texted on as well. Email ginam@andrews.edu with any changes. Thank you!
