Silhouettes and Resound (Bells) Tour - Part 2
Andrews Academy Silhouettes & Bells enjoyed their tour to Tennessee. These tours and performances provide valuable opportunities for students to employ their gifts in such a way that audiences may be drawn closer to God by means of the worshipful music they hear. In each venue, numerous people commented on the high quality of the performances, but most importantly, they shared how they had been blessed and/or inspired by the music. Additionally, the host churches provided wonderful potlucks for the students, allowing students and church members to mingle together.
Presenting various programs as well as hanging out and doing all of these activities together helps develop the group into a more cohesive unit. This is an important component in developing great music together. While there, they toured Nashville, went to an art museum, and on Sunday enjoyed their day at Dollywood.
A huge Thank You to Mr. and Mrs. Scott, Mr. and Mrs. Snow, Mr. and Mrs. Martins, and their fantastic driver, Donavan Greenley. They couldn’t have asked for a better team to make their trip truly unforgettable! From the late-night hallway watches to ensure our kids were safe and sound, to the endless fun and laughter along the way, your dedication and care made every moment special. Thank you for your hard work, your kindness, and for being the backbone of this amazing journey!
A special shout out to Mr. and Mrs. Martins, celebrating six years of dedicated service at AA! Your unwavering commitment and tireless efforts have truly made a difference on this journey and beyond. Thank you for your years of service, leadership, and for being an inspiration to us all.

Chapel Recap
Prayer Monday included an insightful visual prayer activity. Students were first asked, “Where is your (God’s) light, and where do you find it?” Students shared their insights with those near them. Pastor May asked the audience what we should pray over. Eight volunteers then went to the stage to pray over these eight topics. Upon completion of their prayers, each then turned on a lamp they were holding. As we departed, we were encouraged to shine our light to others throughout the school day and each day of our life. (April 22)
Today (Tuesday), Gabrielle Roper, AA junior, shared how in our lives we are so often “on the run.” Life is busy, and we feel like we are always behind. She has experienced this during her high school years, always feeling she was behind or too slow compared to others. She then read Psalm 90:12: ”Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” She encouraged each of us to spend our time wisely and to give it all to God. (April 23)

Important Attendance Information
- Pre-arranged Absences: Please be sure to fill out a pre-arranged absence card if you know in advance that you will be missing school due to a doctor/dentist/orthodontist appointment, trip, basketball tournament, driver's test, etc. These cards can be found in the main office or online. A parent's signature is required, then the office, and teacher(s) of the class(es) that you will miss.
-
Class Schedule Adjustment (CSA) Requests: A CSA is available for students who have a study hall at the beginning or ending of the school day or will be working during a study hall during the school day. A CSA is required for students who leave the Academy to attend classes at Andrews University, who are going to work off campus, or who wish to begin the school day later or leave earlier on a regular basis. The CSA request form must be filled out and signed by everyone indicated on the form before the student stops attending their study hall. Students must adhere to CSA guidelines that are printed on the CSA application. Any violation may cause the CSA to be revoked. I will email students and parents when a CSA is approved.
- Other Absences: Parents, please call the front office (269-471-3138) or email aaattendance@andrews.edu if your student is going to be absent or tardy. These are the preferable methods.
Please provide the reason why your child will not be attending school and how long you think they will be out.
Parents/Guardians are the only authorized individuals who can excuse a student's attendance. When emailing, parents must send correspondence from their email account to maintain the validity of the request. Please include the name of the student.
From the Sourcebook (pg. 83):
Students who miss three (3) consecutive school days due to illness must provide written documentation from a certified medical professional corroborating the necessity of that absence.
For any attendance questions that you would like to ask by email, please direct these questions to aaattendance@andrews.edu.
Thank you!
