Winter Bible Camp 2023, Pt. 2

This past weekend, 98 students enjoyed Andrews Academy's annual spiritual retreat, Winter Bible Camp (January 19-22, 2023). The weekend was designed so that each student was involved in leading out in some aspect of the program so that each would be blessed and grow through the activities, to challenge students to critically think about choices they make, and to develop a deeper relationship with Jesus. The Spiritual Life Committee, consisting of organizational pastors, prepared several interactive Bible activities for the meetings. The guest speaker for the weekend was Pastor Lizeth Momanga.

Sabbath afternoon involved everyone hiking out to the chapel in the woods in Hartwick Pines State Park, a nearby 49 acre park of old growth pines. The rustic wooden structure provides beautiful acoustics. However, this year, the chapel was closed as the roof is being repaired, so they gathered outside the chapel, literally in the woods. There was joy on everyone's faces, harmony all around, and it felt like they had created their own bit of Heaven.

Many students (and sponsors) came back to AA changed...having a deeper relationship with Jesus and with each other. We thank the team of teachers, staff, and student pastors that planned this weekend. If you were not able to attend Winter Bible Camp this year, make sure you plan to attend next year. It’s an awesome experience in which to participate.

We have renewed our relationship with Lands’ End for uniform needs. More selections for uniforms are now included, such as a button-down shirt, a long-sleeved polo, and a sweater. Click on the option(s) that you would like, then choose the size (kid or adult). Please be mindful that Andrews Academy is not responsible for your orders.

We have added a squall jacket (currently on sale—for males, please call the number below to order the jacket) to the uniform store. The AA logo must be added ($5.95), and the jacket can be worn in class/school. To add a proper name and/or class year, please call 800-469-2222.

Lands' End

Please review the Sourcebook (pgs 79-81) for more information regarding uniforms. Only approved logoed uniform wear is allowed. A solid-color, long sleeved undershirt may be worn under the AA short-sleeved polo (no writing should be visible on the undershirt). If a student is wearing a fleece/squall jacket, they should also have an AA logoed shirt underneath.

If you need PE uniform items, please see Mrs. Mills at lunch time or after school (cash only).

Lunch Volunteer Needed

The Dining Services Department is looking for a volunteer cashier to help at AA Monday - Thursday from 11:45 AM – 1:15 PM. This would be perfect for a parent or someone who is retired. The person would get a free meal everyday that they volunteer. If interested, please contact Nereida Martinez by emailing her at nereidab@andrews.edu or by calling her at 269-471-6352.

Opting into Texting for One Call Now

Andrews Academy utilizes One Call Now, an automated messaging service, to contact students and parents about school cancellations, upcoming events, and performances, etc.

Please make sure that we have the phone number that you would like to have contacted. We also send an email, put the announcement on our Facebook and Instagram pages, and alert local TV stations (WSBT, WNDU, ABC57).

To receive a text notification instead of a call (text works best), please text “ALERT” to 22300. Please make sure that you have given us the number that you would like to be texted on as well. Email ginam@andrews.edu with any changes. Thank you!
