Home Skills Class
Andrews Academy offers a Home Skills class, which is a very practical class to learn the basics of taking care of a home. Some portions of the curriculum include basic home repair, and others involve basic cooking classes. These pictures were taken when the students were learning some basic sewing skills.
Mrs. Younker is teaching students how to do the hemming. You will notice that they have Chromebooks that provide a tutorial on how to do each step so that students can progress at their own pace. The teacher is then able to go around to members of the class and coach them through the hemming process.
Home skills class is a very practical class where students learn skills that they will utilize throughout their lives.

Sophomore Assembly
Today (April 19), the AA Guidance Department presented various topics for sophomores. For example, Ms. Leslie Nieves shared details of how to make good decisions in high school and on through life. Many practical suggestions were made as students further develop these skills during their sophomore year.
Thank you, Ms. Nieves, for this informative assembly for sophomores.

Junior Class Cookie Dough Fundraiser Continues
Now that the other class fundraisers have concluded, the juniors would like to continue to sell the unexpected cookie dough we received last December. We received our shipment of frozen cookie dough and delivered it. The following day, we received another shipment that was made in error. It was easier for the company to just give us the cookie dough than ship it back to their plant. The following day, the junior officers met and decided to give 150 of the containers away with the school Christmas meal drive that the SA was running. This is a picture of the junior class officers praying a prayer of blessing on the recipients of the cookie dough and Christmas meals that were given to families in need that Pastor Bell was working with.
The remaining cookie dough containers can be stored for more than a year in the freezer. They have been kept frozen since December and are available for anyone interested in supporting the junior class and enjoying fresh cookies. We are selling them at a discounted price of $10. Please stop by Atkins’ classroom to pick some up or contact any junior who would be happy to pick one up for you. We have many chocolate chip, 5 white chip macadamia nut, 1 sugar, and 1 snickerdoodle available.

Chapels this Week
Monday’s chapel was presented by Natalia Poloche, an AA junior. Most of us grew up in a Christian household and know the stories; because of this, sometimes we become immune to the blessings. After the story of Elisha and the floating axe, we are reminded of the hosts of chariots. Natalia encouraged us not be stopped by our worries but to remember that we are surrounded by angelic chariots. She concluded with Romans 8:37: Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. We already have victory—we can’t be separated from His love!
Today (Tuesday), Pastor Lindsey Pratt, PMC youth pastor and AA chaplain, began her talk after a Bible quiz activity between the classes. Elena Weiss Segui and Gabby Roper won. Students are each members of a class. They belong to a community: Elena in the senior class, and Gabby in the freshman class. Likewise, we are all members of the Christian body. Each one of us matter in this community. Every part of the Christian body can be affected by one member. She encouraged each of us to feel that belonging in the Christian body and to our part!
