Students, please do CampusClear every day before you come to school and show us your green check mark when you arrive. Thank you!
What is CampusClear?
CampusClear is a one-question, daily self-screening survey that takes less than 10 seconds to complete.
How does CampusClear work?
Each day, via the app, Andrews University will present you with a single question: “In the last 24hrs. have you experienced any of the following…?” All you do is answer honestly. After you submit your answer, the app will either present you with a campus “FastPass” (your green light to visit campus) or inform you of the next steps you need to take.
What data does CampusClear collect?
CampusClear collects your andrews.edu email address to verify that you are affiliated with your school. Your email address will be stored encrypted, rendering you totally anonymous. Your email may only be decrypted by a University case manager for the purposes of campus management. CampusClear will also store your daily survey answers for campus management purposes.
What data doesn’t CampusClear collect?
CampusClear does NOT collect names or any other personally identifiable information. It also does NOT collect locations. The app does NOT use GPS or Bluetooth.
When and how often should I screen?
Screening must be conducted each day regardless of if a student or employee plans to access the campus, including all weekdays, weekends and holidays. Screening should be completed at the beginning of the day before leaving your residence.
How do I download the CampusClear app to my smartphone?
- Search for “CampusClear” in the Apple App Store or Google Play.
- Download the CampusClear app onto your smartphone.
- Open the app.
- Review the text prompts and click “I understand, Next” to advance.
- Review the text prompt and click “I Consent.”
- Click the categorization that applies to you—“I am a…Student” or “I am an…Employee” and click “Next.” Employees who are also students should select “I am an…Employee.”
- Enter your andrews.edu email address and click “Submit.” An email from Ivy Team will be sent to your email address to verify your email.
- Open the email and click “Confirm email.” You will receive a message in a pop-up window that says, “You have been successfully validated.”
- Return to the app. Review the consent and click “Start.”
- Answer the daily screening question and click “See Result.”
For those who do not have a smartphone, please access the web platform using this link: https://web.ivy.ai/app/campusclear. Then email your results each day to academy@andrews.edu.
If you have any questions concerning CampusClear, please contact covid19@andrews.edu.

School Communications
The E-Sanjo and other communications from the school, including classroom teacher communications, use the email address(es) that you (and your parents) have recorded in FACTS when you registered for Andrews Academy. A number of individuals have been wondering why they are not receiving their school communications to a certain email. If you wish to have communications sent to a specific email address, please send the change to aanews@andrews.edu. Thank you!

Orientation Assemblies
These first two days of school includes shortened classes and a series of shorter assemblies to orient students on expectations for the school year, including focusing on COVID-19 procedures.
The first assembly began with the introduction of the faculty and staff. As Mrs. Samantha Mills, AA PE teacher, introduced each faculty and staff member, they came forward and said a few words of greetings to the students. Following this, Pastor Mario Ferguson, AA principal, discussed general school procedures and some COVID-19 protocols. The new Guidance Counselor, Ms. Leslie Nieves, had the last portion of the program, discussing the attendance policy of the school. She is also the attendance officer.
On Tuesday morning, Alyssa Palmer, from AU, presented on Title IX for our students for the second assembly of the year. It was an interactive assembly where students learned what things to look for, what to do, and who to report to if there are abuses. It was an informative presentation. The third and final assembly during the first two days of school was on safety and what to do for various drills. We thank Berrien Springs officer Rick Smiedendorf, who works with area schools, for presenting this assembly and serving in our community. We thank the police department for doing preventative measures to keep our school and community safe.

Hodge Podge
Hodge Podge occurred in the afternoon after the second half day of classes. This activity is designed to be a mixer for students to learn each other's names, as well as to have a fun time. This year they had games out on the field that had to be modified a little because of the heat. Each class participated in a series of activities. Juniors came in first place followed by seniors, sophomores, and then freshmen.
The event included a hot dog meal with Mr. David Sherman and Mr. David VanDenburgh at the grill. Thank you to SA for planning the event, and to PPI for preparing and serving a great meal. There were a lot of smiles as students enjoyed the afternoon and made new friends.

Chapels this Week
The very first activity of the school year was a time of worshiping together and concluded with an AA family prayer to dedicate the school year to Jesus. Worship began with singing. Pastor Ferguson then led in the worship thought on Promises, which included a dialogue with PMC youth pastor, Lindsey Pratt. Pastor Ferguson read Psalms 119:49-50. Then He shared two major points:
- The God we serve keeps His promises.
- God’s promises are personal for us.
He shared how at age 17, Joseph was not mature enough to handle the dream God gave him. However, Joseph grew through various situations which prepared him to be able to handle the dream. God, in His way and time, fulfills the personal promises He has for each of us.
Today (Tuesday), Pastor Lindsey Pratt, PMC Youth pastor and AA chaplain, shared from Joshua 1. In this chapter, God is telling Joshua to lead the Israelites to the promised land and that He will always be with him (us). The Israelites had become oblivious to all the miracles they had experienced before. The spies returned proclaiming the goodness of the land. When the children of Israel made excuses as to why they couldn’t take the land, they had to wander in the wilderness for forty years. Sometimes we get so caught up in our excuses that we don’t see what God has promised us. God will keep His promises; you just have to say YES to Him. Be strong and courageous.
After a year and a half, it's so nice to have the majority of students back in the chapel singing, worshiping, and praying together. As you may recall, last year because of COVID, only a few students could gather in the chapel to maintain six foot physical distancing, while everyone else was in their individual classrooms watching chapel on Zoom. This year, with Health Department's recommendation of three foot distancing, the majority of students can be in the chapel for worship while approximately 40 students gather in the Commons to watch on Zoom. We will take turns of being in the chapel so that everyone has the opportunity to be in the chapel for worship.
