First Day of School

Student Association and senior class officers cheered and welcomed students to their first day of school at Andrews Academy for the 2026–2027 school year! Students then entered the chapel, where Mr. VanDenburgh, AA vice principal, welcomed everyone to the new school year. Each faculty member then introduced themselves. Afterward, we enjoyed a time of worship and fellowship together.

Once the chapel welcome was complete, students attended 20-minute sessions for each of their classes. During these brief class periods, teachers introduced themselves, reviewed their courses, and provided students with their course outlines.

Classes concluded at noon, allowing everyone to enjoy lunch together and participate in HodgePodge—a fun way to begin the new school year! Thank you to PPI for preparing and providing the lunch, and to Student Association for organizing the interactive HodgePodge games that helped students get to know each other.

On Thursday, students participated in an orientation assembly that explained the philosophy of our school, as well as the reasoning behind our rules and expectations. The goal was to help everyone understand how we can work together to make this a successful and meaningful school year.

Chapel Re-Cap

Principal Perez-Schulz presented the first chapel of the school year, reminding students that they have been chosen to be part of the Andrews Academy family and that God has a purpose for their lives. From John 15:16, “You did not choose me, but I chose you." He encouraged students to remember that they are never too young to serve God, sharing examples of young biblical leaders. He also highlighted Jeremiah 1:5: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I set you apart.”

Pastor Johnson, AA Bible teacher, presented on this year’s theme, "dis/Connect," emphasizing that as we disconnect from distractions, we can connect more closely with Jesus.

Vice Principal VanDenburgh shared part of his journey. He reminded us that God doesn’t always tell us where to go; instead, He asks us to trust Him and allow Him to lead. He shared a story of someone who asked Mother Teresa to pray for clarity. She replied, “No, clarity is the last thing you're clinging to. I will pray for trust.” Those words offer a powerful reminder that while we may seek clarity, what we truly need is deeper trust in God.

International Meeting

We are blessed by the many international students who attend Andrews Academy. We are grateful to the families who generously open their homes. The International Family Meeting was held to review important procedures, discuss ways to help make the school year successful, and provide an opportunity for families and hosts to meet one another. It was especially meaningful for students and their parents to connect before some parents returned to their home countries.

Thank you, Ms. Chao, for leading this important meeting and helping our international families feel welcomed and supported as we begin the new school year.

Menu

Attention Students: If you would like Friday's boxed lunch, those who are signed up for the lunch program must order it each week by Wednesday at 3:00 PM. The sign-up sheet will be at lunch or in the main office.

Online Menu: Go to https://andrews-university.cafebonappetit.com, under Cafe, click on School Lunch. Then click on View/Print Weekly Menu.

Parents: To sign your student up for the lunch program or add funds to your student's account, you may use this link to pay online (you will need your child's 9 digit AU ID number, including the zeros - a computer rather than a phone works best), or you may pay with cash or check at the Academy main office. The minimum payment for 20 lunches is $148.20, unless your student has been approved for reduced lunch.
