Dear AA Families,
Holy Sabbath day of rest,
By our Master richly blest,
God created and divine,
Set aside for holy time.
Candlelight Vespers:
We praise God for the Sabbath rest that He has provided for us. This evening at 7:00 PM, Andrews Academy will host a candlelight vespers in the AA Courtyard (outside) to stand in solidarity with those who are affected by the situation in Ukraine. We will spend time in prayer and praise. We recognize that there are many who have been displaced, wounded, and killed by the military acts in Ukraine. All students and community members are invited to participate in this worship service.
Academy Day:
Academy Day 2022 happens this Tuesday, March 8. All area eighth graders are invited to this exploratory day. They should report to the Academy before 8:00 AM. Please review this E-Sanjo for further details.
Parent Meeting:
Thank you all for joining us on Tuesday evening for the Parent Meeting. We are grateful for your continued insight, questions, etc. If you have any questions or need clarification following that meeting, please feel free to contact the school.
COVID-19 Updates:
This week we had only one reported COVID case, which was reported before our mask adjustment. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 status and make any necessary changes.
Psalm 46:2-3: Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof.
We have no reason to be afraid—God is in control!

Chapels this Week
Wednesday's chapel began with special music performed by Gabi Goncalves and Caleb Braswell. Our speaker was sophomore Fin Dronen. Fin spoke about three influential women from the Bible. Esther, who saved her people from destruction and dared to stand before the king. Jochebed, Moses' mother, had faith that God would protect her son. Mary Magdelene, a social outcast, humbled herself before Jesus and washed His feet with her hair. In closing, Fin drew three main points from the lives of these women:
-
We need to use our platforms to speak up for others.
-
We should have outstanding faith in dire situations.
-
We need to humble ourselves before God.
On Thursday, as a school family, we said goodbye to our friend, Pastor Eric Bell. He has been a presenter for numerous chapels, presented at week of prayer, Bible Camp, graduations, and more. He has impacted the lives of many Andrews Academy students in a great way. As he follows God’s call to Chicago, he shared Elijah’s story of following God’s call. There will be impossible situations but as long as we call on God’s word, He can make these impossible situations a reality like He did For Elijah. The Academy presented him with a few gifts to remember the school by, as well as words of encouragement, then organizational pastors encircled Pastor Bell as Pastor Glassford prayed a prayer of blessing on him as he begins his new ministry in Chicago. Thank you, Pastor Bell, for your ministry to the Andrews Academy family.
Friday’s chapel began with a group of seniors singing for special music. Then Evan Keyes, AA senior, told of some early childhood experiences of developing friendships with students in elementary school. He also shared the hurt when friends rejected him for more “popular kids.” Throughout middle school and into the first part of high school, this caused him to question his relationship with God. He used a math concept of IF/THEN statements to explain his reasoning. He thought, IF friends reject him, THEN how can God love him? It was a pastor during a week of prayer that answered that question by restating John 3:16: IF God loves you, THEN He will send His son to die for you. And that is what Jesus did for us.

Free Counseling Offered at Andrews University
The Andrews Community Counseling Center (ACCC) still has openings for new clients. Graduate-level practicum students who provide these free counseling services at the ACCC have training in counseling adults, adolescents, and children. Counseling sessions are completely confidential.
During the pandemic, the ACCC knows that the need for mental health services is great, and they also recognize that the need for physical safety is essential. Therefore, all counseling in-person sessions will require counselors and clients to wear a face mask covering the nose and mouth at all times, regardless of vaccination status. For those unable to attend in-person, some teletherapy services may also be available using confidential Zoom sessions.
