Opting in to Texting for One Call Now

Andrews Academy utilizes One Call Now, an automated messaging service, to contact students and parents about school cancellations, upcoming events, and performances, etc.

To receive a text notification instead of a call, please text “ALERT” to 22300. Please make sure that you have given us the number that you would like to be texted on as well. Email  ginam@andrews.edu with any changes. Thank you!

Please sign up to receive a text if possible. Texting seems to work best.

Guidance Department Assembly - Healthy Relationships

On numerous Tuesdays throughout the school year, we have assemblies at 10:15 AM on various general education topics. Today (February 1), Ms. Leslie Nieves, AA school counselor, had a guest speaker present an assembly on relationships.

Ms. Trudean Scott-Elliott from AU presented the topic “Building Healthy Relationships in Youth.” She shared skills on how to develop good healthy relations. Thank you for this informative and practical presentation.

Chapels This Week

SA pastor Benny Santos was Monday’s chapel speaker. To start, he asked his friend Nico Goncalves to come up front. Nico pretended to be mad at Benny and hit him. Benny took a moment to pause and ask the audience what we thought he should do in response: hit Nico back or forgive him. Benny decided to forgive Nico. Benny made the connection between their short skit and the story of Zacchaeus. People believed Zacchaeus to be an unforgivable traitor. But, to everyone’s surprise, Jesus called Zacchaeus by name and ate dinner with him. Zacchaeus decided to turn his life around and pay back those he wronged. Benny reminded us that sometimes it can be hard to forgive ourselves for things we’ve done in the past. We may feel like we’re unforgivable. However, God and His grace covers all of our sins, and we are “more than conquerors in Him.”

Today (Tuesday) started the celebration of Black History Month at Andrews Academy. To start the month off, our speaker was Pastor Bourget. Pastor Bourget began by telling us of the Israelites’ victory over the city of Jericho. Prior to the city’s destruction, the Israelites built a memorial to God, thanking Him for bringing them thus far. The victory over Jericho may have seemed like the end of something, but it was just a pivoting point in the Israelites’ journey; they were finally following God’s will. Even though you may be victorious, there will always be a journey ahead of you. This may seem daunting, but Pastor Bourget reminded us that God will be with us every step of the way.
