Skating & Class Vespers
Class vespers and activities provide a meaningful time to be drawn closer to God, to develop friendships outside the classroom setting, and an opportunity for class officers to develop leadership skills as they plan and lead in the activity and worship experiences.
Traditionally, individual classes have organized and planned events, but sometimes classes work together in planning an event. On Friday, February 11, 2022, all four classes went ice skating at the Howard rink in St. Joseph. More than 160 students participated, the largest group since the school started this tradition.
After skating, each class went to various locations for their class vespers. Freshmen, sophomores, and juniors had their vespers at various locations in the Academy, while the seniors went to a home of a classmate for their supper and vespers. For example, the junior class enjoyed a haystack meal as they watched two episodes of The Chosen, an inspiring online series depicting the life of Jesus.

Chapels This Week
Our speaker for Monday was junior Anna Rybachek. Anna transferred to Andrews Academy this year. Prior to this, Anna attended a junior academy. The junior academy Anna attended only went up to the tenth grade, so it was inevitable that she would have to transfer. Anna prayed and waited for God to tell her where she should go. After waiting for a while, with no response, Anna’s mother suggested touring Andrews Academy. Anna said as she was touring the halls, she felt a sense of peace and envisioned herself attending the Academy. Anna took this feeling of peace as God’s sign to her. To close, Anna said that sometimes it may seem like God is silent, but it’s in that silence that He works at His biggest.
Today (Tuesday), there was another presentation from some of the students that went on the SOW Safari mission trip. Nate Miller spoke first. He had two main points from his time in Texas:
-
Everyone is the same
-
Everyone deserves to be heard.
This was Angelisse Villamizar’s first mission trip. On this trip, she learned how you can be blessed by blessing others. Samantha Woolford-Hunt shared that she signed up for SOW Safari just so she could go on a school trip. She was surprised to see how the people in Texas were so happy when they had so little. Gabe Krause shared a story about randomly finding a construction helmet and wearing it. He wore this helmet the next day, and it protected his head from falling branches during a job. This reminded Gabe that sometimes God works in small ways.
