Day of Fasting and Prayer at AU & AA

Andrews University president, Dr. Andrea Luxton, sent out a message to the AU campus with a personal call for prayer and fasting for 24 hours, starting at 6 PM on Tuesday, January 17. Andrews Academy responded to this call encouraging students and faculty to participate in this day of prayer and fasting. An additional assembly program was added to the day at 10:15 on Wednesday. It was a time of prayer, reading of scripture, singing, and a message from Pastor Lindsey Pratt, PMC youth pastor.

Pastor Mario Ferguson, AA principal, led in an appeal and a prayer to close the special assembly. A number of faculty and students also participated in the AU campus wide special prayer meeting that occurred at 5 PM on Wednesday at PMC on the campus of Andrews University.

Winter Bible Camp 2023

Right now, 98 students are enjoying Andrews Academy's annual spiritual retreat, Winter Bible Camp (January 19-22, 2023). The weekend is designed so that each student is involved in leading out in some aspect of the program so that each would be blessed and grow through the activities, to challenge students to critically think about choices they make, and to develop a deeper relationship with Jesus. The Spiritual Life Committee, consisting of organizational pastors, prepared several interactive Bible activities for the meetings. The guest speaker for the weekend is Pastor Lizeth Momanga.

AA Uniforms Available from Lands' End

We have renewed our relationship with Lands’ End for uniform needs. More selections for uniforms are now included, such as a button-down shirt, a long-sleeved polo, and a sweater. Click on the option(s) that you would like, then choose the size (kid or adult). Please be mindful that Andrews Academy is not responsible for your orders.

We have added a squall jacket (currently on sale—for males, please call the number below to order the jacket) to the uniform store. The AA logo must be added ($5.95), and the jacket can be worn in class/school. To add a proper name and/or class year, please call 800-469-2222.

Lands' End

Please review the Sourcebook (pgs 79-81) for more information regarding uniforms. Only approved logoed uniform wear is allowed. A solid-color, long sleeved undershirt may be worn under the AA short-sleeved polo (no writing should be visible on the undershirt). If a student is wearing a fleece/squall jacket, they should also have an AA logoed shirt underneath.

If you need PE uniform items, please see Mrs. Mills at lunch time or after school (cash only).

Lunch Volunteer Needed

The Dining Services Department is looking for a volunteer cashier to help at AA Monday - Thursday from 11:45 AM – 1:15 PM. This would be perfect for a parent or someone who is retired. The person would get a free meal everyday that they volunteer. If interested, please contact Nereida Martinez by emailing her at nereidab@andrews.edu or by calling her at 269-471-6352.

Opting into Texting for One Call Now

Andrews Academy utilizes One Call Now, an automated messaging service, to contact students and parents about school cancellations, upcoming events, and performances, etc.

Please make sure that we have the phone number that you would like to have contacted. We also send an email, put the announcement on our Facebook and Instagram pages, and alert local TV stations (WSBT, WNDU, ABC57).

To receive a text notification instead of a call (text works best), please text “ALERT” to 22300. Please make sure that you have given us the number that you would like to be texted on as well. Email ginam@andrews.edu with any changes. Thank you!

FACTS or Andrews Username Log In Help

If you need help logging in to FACTS or help with your Andrews user name/email and password, please contact Mrs. Meekma (ginam@andrews.edu) in the front office.

You can find your schedule, grades, etc. on FACTS. New students, if your username hasn't been set up yet, come to the front office for help.

"Fiddler on the Roof" in The Journal Era

Families may want to purchase this week's edition (January 18, 2023) of the local newspaper, The Journal Era. Please see the three full-color pages about our recent musical, "Fiddler on the Roof." These papers are in newsstands of local grocery stores and pharmacies until Tuesday.

Chapels this Week

This week was School Counselor Week at Andrews Academy. We had the pleasure of inviting Professor Lloyd Hamilton, from the School of Social Work at Andrews University, to speak to us for our chapels. He imparted the acronym, BROOM, to the students—the letters stand for Belief, Resilience, Opportunity, Optimism, and Mentoring, respectively. Professor Hamilton used his own personal testimony and experiences to emphasize the importance of BROOM and how each facet of it, through God, can make a difference in your life.

Thank you, Professor Hamilton, for imparting such a personal and meaning-deep message with AA. We also thank the praise leaders for leading us out in song before each message.
