Beginning the Journey Together

Dear Andrews Academy Parents, Students and Friends,

As we begin this school year together, I am reminded of Proverbs 3:5–6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart… and He will make your paths straight.”

Each new school year brings opportunities, challenges, friendships, and growth. Yet through every experience, we can trust that God is leading our Andrews Academy family.

Thank you for entrusting your children to us and for partnering with our faculty and staff in their academic, social, and spiritual development. Our greatest desire is that students not only grow in knowledge, but also develop Christlike character, discover their God-given purpose, and learn to serve others unselfishly.

May we move forward together with prayer, wisdom, and faith, trusting God to guide our students throughout this year.

With gratitude,

Following the Alumni Convocation, fifteen AA alumni will hold Career Seminars.   There will also be a Career Fair in the gym.

No classes will meet at AA during that time. The regular school schedule will resume at 11:00 (11:10 class).

Students, please click on the link to sign up for Career Seminars. Give your top three choices, although you will only attend two seminars and the Career Fair.

Students with CSAs in the morning that are NOT because of college classes should plan to attend. Attendance will be taken accordingly.

Chapel Recap

Wednesday’s music chapel could aptly be called “Hymnal Literacy.” Mr. Cerna, choir director, led students in discovering the features and possibilities within the hymnal.

Students learned that hymns are organized by topic, allowing congregations to select songs that reinforce the theme of a worship service. They also learned about hymn meter, which makes it possible to use a familiar tune with the words of a less-familiar hymn when the meters match.

For example, students sang part of the familiar hymn 524, “’Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus,” and discovered that the same tune can be used with hymn 187, “Jesus, What a Friend for Sinners.” Using a familiar melody gave students confidence to learn a new hymn.

The chapel was a practical reminder that a hymnal is more than a collection of songs—it is a valuable resource for worship and a way to help congregations discover and sing new hymns.

Andrews Academy is also grateful for the new hymnals and Bibles generously donated by the Class of 2026.

Community Service Day

As part of Andrews Academy educational program, we participated in community service on Wednesday Sept. 23, 2026. As a school we feel that it is important for students to learn to serve our community. We teach this concept in a very practical way. We devote an entire morning practicing this concept with the students, as well as having various smaller projects throughout the year.

This special day reminded us of the importance of serving our community and caring for the creation God has entrusted to us—all for His glory!

Our small efforts made a significant impact and demonstrated the philosophy of Andrews Academy, as well as the diligence, maturity, and selflessness of our students. As faculty, we are blessed to have the opportunity to be part of such a meaningful experience and to see our students put these values into action.

English Class Project CONNECT

Sophomores dipped down memory lane this week. They had memorized Shel Silverstein poems and were ready to perform them for Ruth Murdoch Elementary students (with props and costumes)! After a visit to the James White Library to select picture books on a sunny Monday, they ran to the elementary school on a rainy Wednesday.

Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd graders received them with warm welcome and our students enjoyed the company and joy of the little ones. The Spaghetti poem was a favorite with the kids (especially when the big kids threw ‘noodles’ out over them), the choreography and bird nest hats of “Upstairs” were silly and quite funny, and everyone giggled when the ‘ladies’ walked away from an irresistable wedding proposal.

We hope to be able to visit our neighbor school again! (Or maybe they’ll come this way.)
