Partnership with Andrews University - Earth Science Class Field Trip
Andrews Academy is blessed to be part of the Andrews University campus. It provides us opportunities that many other high school students cannot experience. On Monday, the Earth science class went to the museum at the biology department. They were able to examine Michigan’s most complete skeleton of a woolly mammoth as well as other specimens in the museum. This mammoth was discovered in a irrigation pond that was being excavated near Eau Claire decades ago.
While there, the students analyzed the size of the teeth, as well as the size of pelvis and growth plates on the bones to hypothesize the age and sex of the mammoth. They also speculated about how it died and was then buried in the swamp to be preserved for centuries. Currently, Earth science students are studying fossils. They then spent some time looking at other items in the museum.

On Tuesday, January 24, starting at 5:30 PM, the AA PE department will host its first event for 2023: the annual class vs class DODGEBALL tournament. This is a great event for AA to have a fun evening with the student body and staff. Sign-up sheets and rules will be posted on the gym doors by this Tuesday, January 17. Each class should wear a uniform color to distinguish teams. Looking forward to seeing all of you come out to either play or support your class! Please email Mrs. Mills (samantham@andrews.edu) if you have any questions.

Chapels this Week
For this week's chapels, we invited some familiar faces back onto our stage to speak. Mr. Ron Norton, a staff member here at Andrews Academy, spoke on Monday about how our identities are not what we think they are—that we are valued children of God, each preciously loved by Him. Ms. Linda Sanford, a previous AA staff member, spoke about her testimony and of how God used an event in her life to teach her about His love. Pastor Thorly James spoke about how God raises us above our enemies, rather than hiding us away, as a manifestation of His protection and care. Pastor Denry White spoke, in relation to the upcoming Martin Luther King Jr. Day, of how another King had a dream, that we would be reunited with Him in heaven.
We send a big thank you to our speakers for reminding us that we must also continually learn of and focus on God's love in our daily lives.
