Honors Project Presentations

Andrews Academy seniors have an opportunity to graduate with honors. This is a program to challenge students to go beyond what is traditionally done, to take a series of higher-level classes, and to work on a research project. After completing the research and composing a research paper, participants then present their findings as the final stage of the honors project during an assembly.

There were 7 presenters this year—Ryleigh Bergmann, Seth Greenhaw, Princess Khatri-Chetri, Nathaniel Miller, Benjamin Radivojevic, Aidan Robbins, and Alexis Rosenthal. Each presenter shared their research to approximately 20-30 students. It was impressive to see the quality of research and presentations that were made. Congratulations to each presenter for a job well done!

Final Exam/Assessment Schedule

& Graduation Practices

Next week, May 23-25

No early departure policy applies.

Final exams/assessments start this Tuesday, May 23. Please note when your exams are scheduled for and carefully prepare for them so that you can do well in each of your classes. The first day begins at 9:00 AM to provide you more time to prepare. If your transportation requires you to arrive at the school at 8:00 AM, then please go to the Commons.

Students are required to attend even if you do not have an exam/ assessment for that time slot. However, if you have a study hall (or band) during the first exam slot of the day, then you do not need to arrive until devotions. For students with band or a study hall for the first or last exam slot of the day (except Thursday), parents should contact us at AAattendance@andrews.edu or 269-471-3138 to excuse band/study hall. Contact Mrs. Meekma in the front office if you have any questions. Be sure to sign in at the front office if you arrive late or leave early.

If you have a break in between two finals (for example, on Wednesday you have a 10:15 AM class final and no 11:10 AM class final [such as a study hall or CSA], then a 2:25 PM class final), then you must go to study hall. You may not leave campus and walk over to Apple Valley or anywhere else. Everyone should attend Mizpah/Communion/Checkout on Thursday.

Please remember that students must stay in the classroom for the entire exam class period. You may not go "get books," "get a drink," etc. when you are done with your exam. Before the exam begins, please get books you may need to study from, get a drink, use the restroom, etc. so that you can stay in the classroom the entire time. We want the entire school to be quiet during exams so that they can be done as effectively as possible without distractions. Thank you!

Awards Assembly

Each spring, at the conclusion of the school year, Andrews Academy recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of the students. This recognition includes awards for outstanding work in all classes, for the religious contributions students have made, as well for involvement in the many extracurricular opportunities available at Andrews Academy. Recognition and awards were also given to the many students who take leadership responsibilities in such groups as Yearbook, Student Association, etc.

We strive to recognize the many talents students have, that God has blessed them with. Events such as these allow us to further reflect on the excellence of each student and how we can create an environment where everyone can aspire to strive in their respective talents. Students, well done, and continue the good work! Please take care of these awards/certificates, and make sure that you take them home for your parents to see/keep in a safe place.

Chapels this Week

It's exciting to think that this week was our last full week of chapels for the school year!

Monday's chapel began with fun praise to get us pumped up for Spring Picnic that day. To top it off, freshman Lily Murphy spoke about how we can each live our individual lights despite the circumstances in our lives, connecting with the overall theme of the school year, "Live His Light."

Tuesday through Thursday's chapels were a continuation of our celebration of Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) month. Our speakers for Tuesday and Wednesday were Jaden Leiterman—an alumnus of AA and older brother of sophomore Micah Leiterman and current MLS student at AU—and Mr. Poua, father of senior Lilia Poua, who is a Pacific Islander. Both had unique messages to share, only further highlighting the diverse experiences we each have and how we can learn from them. Thursday was a brief panel, where a few Asian American and Pacific Islander students shared how AAPI month chapels were impactful to them.

Friday's chapel was forgone due to the Awards Assembly, where Pastor Ferguson had a short worship thought.

Thank you to each of the speakers and the praise teams for allowing us to have such an amazing, stimulating spiritual life through our chapels here at AA!

AA Uniforms Available from Lands' End

We have renewed our relationship with Lands’ End for uniform needs. More selections for uniforms are now included, such as a button-down shirt, a long-sleeved polo, and a sweater. Click on the option(s) that you would like, then choose the size (kid or adult). Please be mindful that Andrews Academy is not responsible for your orders.

We are working on other jacket options.

Please review the Sourcebook (pgs 79-81) for more information regarding uniforms. Only approved logoed uniform wear is allowed. A solid-color, long sleeved undershirt may be worn under the AA short-sleeved polo (no writing should be visible on the undershirt). If a student is wearing an AA logoed jacket, they should also have an AA logoed shirt underneath.

If you need PE uniform items, please see Pastor Ferguson at lunch time or after school (cash only).
