The Journey Together
This week, our Parent-Teacher Conferences reminded us of a beautiful biblical principle: raising and educating children is a shared responsibility. Proverbs 22:6 reminds us, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
Education is more than grades, assignments, and academic achievement. It is about nurturing character, strengthening faith, and preparing young people for God's purpose in their lives. As parents and educators, we may have different responsibilities, but we share one mission: helping our children grow academically, spiritually, and personally.
Thank you to every parent who took time this week to connect with our teachers. Your involvement communicates something powerful to your children: their growth matters, and they are not walking this journey alone.
May God continue to bless our partnership as we guide our students toward lives of faith, wisdom, and service.
With gratitude,
Rubén A. Pérez Schulz

Alumni Weekend 2026 - Friday Vespers
Friday Night Alumni Weekend Vespers, held October 16, 2026, was led by Mrs. Kim Spare, class of 2000, current students of AA and community friends. Entitled “Precious Memories,” the program featured an evening of special music and sing-alongs from all genres.
A love offering was collected for our Pew Project as we continue to renovate and improve our AA Chapel. If you would like to donate, please reach out to the Andrews Academy office.
Pastor Deirdre Solomon, the class pastor of the Class of 2006, shared a brief devotional entitled “The Goodness of God.”
The class of '81+1 quartet shared a heartfelt special music that warmed the hearts of those who came.
It was a fun evening filled with music, fellowship, and fond memories of their time together at Andrews Academy.

Alumni Weekend 2026 - Church & Class Photos
During Alumni Weekend Sabbath, two programs take place simultaneously: church in the Academy Chapel and Children’s Church, featuring a children’s story and activities, in the library.
Mrs. Pellegrini, Mr. Steven Toscano, Pastor Gabriel Johnson, and numerous Andrews Academy students led out in Children’s Church. The program included singing, crafts, and science object lessons, followed by two Bible stories: the feeding of the five thousand and Peter walking on water. The students did an exceptional job presenting the stories, and the children thoroughly enjoyed the program.
Meanwhile, the worship service took place in the Academy Chapel. Pastor Jean-Marcel Clouzet, a member of the Class of 2001, delivered a powerful sermon. The current Silhouettes choir then invited alumni to join them in singing “When I Survey the Wondrous Cross.” It was a touching moment as multiple generations of alumni, including parents and their children, united in worship.
Following the service, a dinner was provided for alumni. Special thanks go to the AA Officers, PPI, and the many volunteers who helped organize the meal. During lunch, members of each honored class gathered for group photos and enjoyed time together in classrooms set aside for fellowship and catching up.

Alumni Weekend 2026 - Shydepoke
The traditional Shydepoke game was held on October 17, 2026, in the Andrews University gymnasium.
Originally a flag football game since its inception in 1960, Shydepoke transitioned to a basketball format in 2023 due to logistical challenges and Michigan’s unpredictable fall weather. This year’s event was full of excitement, drawing a large number of players and audience.
In the first game, the female AA alumni faced off against the current female AA students. The school team took an early lead and maintained it throughout, securing a 30–17 victory. The male AA alumni and current male students played a thrilling, back-and-forth game. The school took the lead in the first few moments of the game, shortly after the alumni took the lead and won win, 70–53. Everyone enjoyed the spirited competition and strong community atmosphere.
MVP Awards
Doug Newberry Most Valuable Player Award: Carter Hayes
Lydia Chong Most Valuable Player Award: Zarah Prentice
A big thank you to the coaches, referees, announcers, and fans who made this a fun and successful alumni event!

Alumni Weekend 2026 - Sharon Russell Memorial Walk
Sunday morning of alumni weekend (Oct. 18, 2026) was the third annual Sharon Russell Memorial Walk. The twenty-year honor year class of 2003 wanted to do something to remember their teacher, Sharon Russell, who impacted the lives of many students in so many ways.
Her health class was known for walking around campus and the Berrien County community as part of her fitness program.
|
|
|
|
Members of the class initiated a new Worthy Student Fund called the “Sharon Russell Non-endowed Fund.” We thank the many people who contributed to this fund for helping make the Andrews Academy experience possible for these students. Sharon Russell had a heart for her students, and this new worthy student fund is a way for each of us to honor Sharon Russell as we share financially to help students attend AA.
Thank you class of 2003 for initiating these two items that so many could participate in not only in 2023 but also in Reunion Weekend 2026 and for many years to come.

Lifetime Activity Class Highlight
Mr. Cook enjoys the outdoors so much that he is always finding ways to take his classes outside. His Lifetime Activities class has been learning how to play disc-golf. We are lucky to have a course on the campus of Andrews University. Recently, he took the class on a field trip to Rangeline Park where they enjoyed another disc-golf course. We are BLESSED to have Mr. Cook at Andrews Academy!

We do not offer afterschool care. If a student needs to stay after school, they must communicate with a faculty or staff member to agree to be their supervisor. If they are found in the building without a supervisor, they will be asked to call home from the office or leave the building. The weather is getting colder, so please make arrangements accordingly.
