Season's Greetings
Throughout this Christmas season, we have enjoyed the music, the decorations, and so many Christmas traditions here at Andrews Academy. The Feast of Lights program was not only a highlight of the Christmas traditions, it also retold the reason for the Christmas season: Jesus coming to this Earth as a baby so that each of us can be saved and spend eternity with Him!
Another AA tradition is a SA sponsored Christmas party right after the exams and before everyone leaves for the holidays. This year they organized a number of activities such as karaoke, board games, and various games in the gymnasium. Prepackaged Christmas treats were then shared with each of the students.
Thank you, SA, for this party to celebrate the end of the semester and the beginning of our Christmas holidays.
May God grant you His richest blessing during this season of His Son’s birth.
Merry Christmas!

Student Association Holiday Service Project
We are thankful for the generosity of students and families as they participated in the SA food drive. On Wednesday after school, a group of student volunteers packed 150 Christmas meal packages for residents of an apartment building in our county to whom Pastor Bell is ministering. Pastor Bell’s church will be adding the protein item for each food box, and then they will be packed up and delivered. These food items will provide a Christmas meal for a family that is in need, and enough ingredients for a number of other meals to follow.
An interesting addition to the food drive occurred very recently. As some of you know, the junior class fundraiser cookie dough arrived on Tuesday. Unexpectedly, late Wednesday afternoon, the company called saying the cookie dough order has arrived. Mistakenly, they sent two shipments of the same order! After conversing with Mr. Atkins, who provided the details of this mix-up, the company said, “Merry Christmas! You can have this second shipment at no extra cost!”
The rest of the story is…the following morning, the class sponsors met with the junior class officers to let them know of this gift given to the class. They were amazed and rather excited about this addition to their original fundraiser. It was then suggested that maybe the class should pass on this generosity to the food drive. Without hesitation, everyone agreed that they would donate 150 tubs of cookie dough to the food drive, and sell the rest.

The officers then had a prayer to give thanks for the unexpected cookie dough, but more importantly, to pray for the 150 families that will be receiving these Christmas meals. We pray that they will be blessed this Christmas season and that these food boxes will impress in the minds of the recipients that Jesus loves them.
Thank you, junior class officers, for your leadership that is filled with Christian generosity.
Again, thank you all for your generosity during this Christmas season of giving. Matthew 25:40: “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’"

The Humane Society Gives a “Thumbs Up” to the Generosity of Andrews Academy Students
You may recall about a month ago there was a service project to collect pet food, supplies, etc. to give to the Humane Society as part of our “Community Service Church.” Following church, the students were going to go to care for the animals in the afternoon. However that activity had to be canceled at the last moment. The food and supplies were recently delivered to the Human society, and they were very appreciative of the students' generosity.

Chapels this Week
On Wednesday, Student Association pastor Benny Santos brought us a quick devotional. As it is finals week, he told us a couple of personal experiences relating to finals. When he took his algebra final, Benny only completed half of it. But he ended up getting an A in the class anyway. During his pre-calc final last year, Benny forgot his 3x5 card. Today, Benny challenged us to do three things:
- Trust the process
- Remember failure is not final
- Prepare yourself
God has a plan for you. Even when you fail, He will be right by your side. And He doesn't define you by your mistakes. Prayer is one of your strongest aids, but you also need to prepare yourself. Don't show up and expect God to do all the work.
Pastor Ferguson led out in the chapel talk on Thursday morning. There are many “storms” in our lives such as COVID that each of us are facing. Sometimes the winds of the storm feel overwhelming. Instead of fighting the storm, be like an eagle and use the winds of the storm to lift you up, to soar high with God. Isaiah 40:31 says, “but they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint.” We serve a God that knows everything, so let’s trust Him as we go through our storms. He concluded his talk by reminding us that we are who we are because of the God we serve.
Today (Friday), Pastor Ferguson, during our last chapel of the semester, shared about how we are blessed. We take for granted the little things like running water, clothes, food etc. Many around the world and even in our communities may not have these blessings.

Free Counseling Offered at Andrews University
The Andrews Community Counseling Center (ACCC) will have openings for many new clients when they reopen in January 2022 (although individuals interested in services are encouraged to call now and leave a confidential voicemail message to get their name toward the top of the waiting list). Graduate-level practicum students who provide these free counseling services at the ACCC have training in counseling adults, adolescents, and children. Counseling sessions are completely confidential.
During the pandemic, the ACCC knows that the need for mental health services is great, and they also recognize that the need for physical safety is essential. Therefore, all counseling in-person sessions will require counselors and clients to wear a face mask covering the nose and mouth at all times, regardless of vaccination status. For those unable to attend in-person, some teletherapy services may also be available using confidential Zoom sessions.
