Graduation - Class Night
Graduation weekend began with a heartfelt evening of celebration and recognition during Class Night (May 21, 2026). The program opened with a prayer from the class pastor, followed by a warm welcome from the class president and the presentation of the class gift. One of the most moving moments of the evening was when each senior took time to thank their parents. As photos of each graduate were shown and pre-recorded tributes played, students came forward to receive a rose, which they then presented to their parents in gratitude for their love and support. The program continued with a tribute to class sponsors, honoring their dedication and guidance throughout the students' high school journey. Next came the People’s Choice Awards—light-hearted recognitions voted on by classmates, celebrating the unique contributions of individual seniors.
A major portion of the evening was dedicated to the presentation of achievement awards. Students were recognized in a variety of categories, including academics, music, spiritual leadership, physical education, responsibility, and more. The Alumni Legacy Pin was awarded to those whose families included two or even three generations of Andrews Academy graduates. Underclassmen—take note! Many seniors received generous college scholarships, ranging from $32,000 to $56,000, with some even earning full four-year tuition packages valued at over $146,000. In total, Andrews Academy graduates received $5.2 million in scholarships from Andrews University and other organizations. A reception followed in the Commons, providing a time to relax, reflect, and celebrate together. Special thanks to the junior class officers for their behind-the-scenes work in preparing the reception and handling countless event details. Their efforts helped make the evening a success.

Graduation - Consecration
Friday evening’s Consecration program at Village Adventist Church marked a meaningful milestone for the graduating students (May 22, 2026). It was a special time for them to commit and dedicate their lives to Christ as they prepare to leave the academy and step into adulthood. The service began with an opening prayer by Mr. Jamie Bennett, followed by a musical selection from Jonathan Raveloharimisy and Daniel Kondrat. Mrs. Tonya Snyder was introduced by her son, Monty. Interestingly, she had also been the worship speaker when this class first arrived as eighth graders for Academy Day. A member of the Class of 1996, she shared some of the same advice she had given them years earlier:
She reflected on the many activities and accomplishments of the class, noting how impressive their level of involvement had been throughout their years at the Academy. She then turned to Proverbs 19:21: “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” She connected this verse to the story of Jonah, who initially tried to follow his own plans instead of God’s. Yet God continued to work through Jonah’s life and ultimately fulfilled His purpose. Mrs. Snyder reminded the graduates that, like Jonah, they may face uncertainties and moments when they are tempted to follow their own path. However, God has a plan for each of them, and He calls them to trust and follow His direction. Her meaningful presentation beautifully complemented the class motto: “My Path, His Purpose; My Drive, His Direction.” She closed with a heartfelt reminder: God is always walking beside you, and He will always be there for you. Trust His purpose He has for you!
Class pastor Iliana Murphy spoke on behalf of the graduating class. Mr Luis Amador had the Prayer of Consecration. A senior vocal quartet shared a second musical selection, and Mrs. Raveloharimisy concluded the program with the benediction.
The Consecration service was both inspiring and reflective, drawing hearts closer to Jesus.

Graduation - Baccalaureate
On Sabbath morning of Graduation Weekend (May 23, 2026), the Baccalaureate service offered a meaningful time of worship to praise our Creator and give thanks for the many blessings He has given us. The service began with Mr. & Mrs. Ryan & Suzanne Hayes welcoming everyone, a call to worship by Mr. Ernst Jacques, followed by a series of uplifting praise songs led by the AA Praise Team. Mrs. Galina Dyman offered a heartfelt prayer, and Mr. and Mrs. Timothy & Lorena Newkirk led the call for the offering. The AA Symphony Orchestra provided the offertory music.

Mrs. Rhonda Leak shared the scripture reading, and the Orion Strings and Silhouettes performed the special music selection, “The Lord is My Shepherd.” Dr. Logan served as the organist throughout the weekend, adding depth and beauty to each part of the service.
Pastor Earl Baldwin presented the sermon, “A Journey of a Lifetime,” and praised the class motto, “My path is purpose; my drive, His direction,” noting that it reflected an important Christian principle. He reminded students that God is always speaking, but we must be tuned in to His voice. Using the image of a deeply rooted tree, he emphasized that lives grounded in Jesus can withstand life’s storms. Reflecting on Elijah’s story in 1 Kings 17, Pastor Baldwin described how Elijah boldly trusted God in both triumph and discouragement. He encouraged the class not to lose sight of God during the emotional highs of graduation or the “caves” of life, reminding them that God always provides guidance and a way forward like He did for Elijah. He closed by urging everyone to trust fully in the Lord and continue growing in faith, praying that one day each person would hear the words, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”
After the sermon, the congregation joined in singing a hymn, followed by a benediction delivered by Mrs. Joanne Kim. Everyone then united in singing “The Lord Bless You and Keep You.” It was a beautiful morning to gather on the church steps for photos both before and after the service. Graduation Weekend is a special time for seniors, their families, and friends to come together in worship, deepen their connection with God, and celebrate the achievements of His children. Families from Berrien Springs and around the world joined in the joyful celebrations.

Graduation - Commencement
Sunday morning of graduation weekend was Andrews Academy Commencement (May 24, 2026). After the class marched in the AA board chair, Mr. Fares Magesa began the program with the invocation, followed by class president, Audrey Simpson, who gave the final address to the class. Special music was presented by AA Orion Strings conducted by Dr. Elsy M. Gallardo-Diaz. The commencement address, titled “Are We There Yet? Trust the Process,” was presented by Mrs. Ivonne Segui Medina, Andrews Academy registrar. She shared memories of family road trips where the children would often ask, “Are we there yet?” While there was always a destination, she reflected on how the experiences and moments along the journey were often the most meaningful. She also shared about a backpacking trip with AA students, many were seniors. Because she had little time to train beforehand, she planned to take only the shorter trails. During the hike, she fell, and one of the sponsors helped lift her up and offered to carry her backpack. She compared this experience to Jesus, who never leaves us alone. Even when we fall, He is there to lift us up and offers to carry the burdens and weights of life. He does not force Himself upon us but lovingly offers His help. She encouraged the graduates to trust the process God has planned for their lives. While they had reached the milestone of graduation weekend, she reminded them to take time to enjoy the journey ahead while continually following and leaning on God’s plan for their future. God has a purpose and path prepared for each of them. The Silhouettes presented Goodbye, My Friend. Mr. David VanDenburgh, senior class sponsor, presented the Class of 2026. Principal Ruben Perez-Schulz lead in the conferring of diplomas. Seniors also received the book Steps to Christ from the Michigan Conference. After all the seniors received their diploma, they transferred their tassel to the other side and were introduced as the new alumni class of 2026. The new senior class of 2027 was then introduced. Mr. Ruben Perez-Schulz presented a charge to the class. Everyone then sang the commencement hymn Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah. This was followed by benediction by class sponsor Mrs. Gina Pellegrini.
Congratulations graduates on your accomplishments! May each of you keep God first as you venture out in your next phase of life. Throughout the weekend numerous open houses were held. These are always a fun time to share stories, congratulate and encourage each other. Thank you to the many families who generously shared for these occasions. It was a fun and spiritually inspiring graduation weekend. For many more photos of this event and a photo of each graduate receiving their diploma, please go to Facebook.
P.S. In a number of weeks, graduates will be able to stop by the Academy to pick up your graduation packets. This is when you will receive a professional picture of you receiving your diploma, a class picture, as well as other important documents.
